Mass & Reception

Beginning St. Andrew the Apostle Church

Around 1980, members of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Cary began a mission church known as St. Michael’s Apex Church, or the Apex Mission for short. The first Mass was held in the basement of Spain’s Restaurant in Apex.

A group of parishioners worked with the diocese to seek a permanent Catholic Church in Apex to be known as St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. In 1983, Bishop Joseph Gossman secured two priests from the Franciscan Friars of the Atonement for the parish. The arrival of Fr. William Schmidt, the pastor, and Fr. Joe Cavoto, the associate pastor, in September 1983 marked the official establishment of the parish.

On Jan. 29, 1988, Bishop Gossman officially dedicated St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church.

Week of Prayer

Local Christian churches gathered with St. Andrew parishioners on Jan. 24 during the 100th “Week of Prayer” to worship together in prayer and song. Our parish would like to thank the local clergy who attended and the Apex First Baptist Church Choir for joining the celebration.

APeX Ministries

On March 2 our faith community welcomed APeX Ministries as the second event of the parish's 25th Anniversary Celebration. The duo from Washington, D.C., used their gifts of juggling, humor and personal testimony to create a special evening filled with fun and faith.

Be A Part of the Celebration!

If you would like to volunteer for an upcoming event, or to help with 25th Anniversary plans, please contact the parish office at (919) 362-0414 or email reception@saintandrew.org. We'd love to hear from you!
