Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity provides volunteers interested in joining with other churches and/or organizations in the building of homes for those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Membership: Open to all who wish to volunteer. We need 8-10 St. Andrew volunteers each Saturday that we work. We work each Saturday (excluding holidays) during the build period from 8:30 AM to 3PM. No sign-up necessary. Full or half-days shifts. No experience is necessary. Families, parish groups, high-schoolers (age 16 and older) are all welcome. We also need help providing lunches for the volunteers. For more information contact George Sawyer, gsawyer@ix.netcom.com). Anyone interested in helping build a home for a family in need is welcome to help.
Events:
2007 project
Currently we are not working on a house. We hope to start on a new house sometime in 2007. To be added to the email distribution list, contact George Sawyer, gsawyer@ix.netcom.com). We will be sending out more information when available.
2006 Project
Our 2006 project was completed in October. In partnership with St. Luke Catholic Church, we built a house for the Shanika Primous family. It was located in Idlewood village, off Rock Quarry Road in southeast Raleigh.. See summary sheet for details. See Pictures of house in progress
Habitat for Humanity of Wake County develops partnerships to build healthy, affordable homes with and for God's people in need, promotes self-reliance through homeownership, affirms the dignity of the family, and creates sustainable communities.
