Altar Servers
Altar Servers have a rich heritage, going back to Jesus himself. In fact, Jesus sent two of his disciples to prepare the Passover (Last Supper) for Himself and the Twelve. Over the centuries, ceremonies evolved and specially trained assistants called Acolytes became common. Today we have our altar servers, who love Jesus, love the Mass and want to give their time and talents in the service of God and his Church.
Membership: An altar server can be any person who regularly attends St. Andrew the Apostle Church, knows the principal prayers of the Mass, has received First Communion, and is tall enough to safely manage lighted candles (and has completed the training).
Meetings: One 3-hour training session
Contact: Steve Shakal at 919-469-8406 Frank Jackson, Parish Council Liaison, fjackson@saintandrew.org
