Below are some of the projects we've done in the past or are working on now:
Gabriel Project
Several parishes in the Cary/Raleigh area have Gabriel Projects. The aim of these projects is to assist needy mothers and babies by donating clothing and baby care items, occasional help with babysitting, doctor visits, housecleaning, etc., as well as just being there to support these mothers. Our ministry is actively promoting Gabriel Project with advertisements in the NCSU student paper and is looking for other ways to help as well.
Letter signing campaigns
We've organized several letter-signing campaigns, the latest of which was urging our Senators to support a ban on human cloning. We collected and mailed over 500 signed petitions.
Prayer at abortion clinic
A continuing project is to pray in front of "A Woman's Choice" abortuary on Saturday mornings. We encourage those who cannot attend every Saturday to try to attend the last Saturday of the month. This abortion facility is open 364 days a year and has performed up to 50 abortions in a 2 hour period. Fortunately, there have been times when we have been able to give women who are going into the facility enough information about abortion alternatives so that they chose life for their babies. And at other times our prayerful presence has changed mother's minds!
Life Chain
We work with the local chapter of North Carolina Right to Life to promote and participate in the annual Life Chain event the first weekend in October.
Vigil for Life
For the past three years we've held the Vigil for Life. Bishop Gossman leads us in Mass, followed by a prayer-filled morning at one of the diocese abortion clinics.
Rally for Life
We promote and attend this yearly event in January in downtown Raleigh.
Fund Raising
We are self-funded through the sale of potted plants on Mother’s Day weekend. The money we raise funds our efforts and donations to worthy causes such as Birthchoice.
A Pro-Life Prayer
God of all goodness, You have entrusted us with the gift of life. Help us to appreciate that gift from the first moments of conception to the last breaths of old age. Send Your strength to all those who defend the unborn, the weak, and the dying against attempts to cut short their lives. May Your Holy Spirit touch the hearts of those who are tempted to choose the way of death rather than life. Grant that Your people may always be a sign of love in the world. Amen
