“The maturation of the Christian life requires that it be cultivated in all its dimensions…” (General Directory for Catechesis)
Adult Faith programs at St. Andrew include small Christian communities, Living Faith information sessions, adult confirmation, and more!
Not Catholic? You are most welcome to participate in any of our programs with no strings attached!
In partnership with the Diocese of Raleigh, St. Andrew offers 6 session courses for catechists and all adults who are interested in learning more about their faith. In Fall 2010, the Course was an introduction to the Creed, and an introduction to Sacraments was covered in Spring 2011 and an introduction to Scripture was completed in Fall 2011. Completion of these courses counts towards basic catechist certification with the Diocese.
Upcoming courses include "Christian Morality” in Spring 2012, and a repeat of the Creed class in Summer 2012. Classes are offered during the day and in the evening for your convenience.
Registrations will be accepted beginning Sunday, Dec. 11 for the Morality Class. For Registration Forms, click here. Registrations close on Jan.8, or when the classes are filled.
You can expect a mix of opportunities to gather for prayer, topical speakers, social interaction, and to reach out in service to our parish and community. Please watch the St. Andrew’s bulletin and website for information about new programs and events. The group generally meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month.
If you would like to be informed of upcoming events by email, please send an email to Cathy Rusin at adult_faith@saintandrew.org with the subject line “ALL email list.”
We have heard some interest in starting up programming with young adults. Please contact Cathy Rusin if you would like to participate, and to offer suggestions for topics and activities. You can also ‘like’ our Facebook page to keep informed of upcoming events!
Are you looking for ways to deepen your relationship with your spouse? Watch this page and the bulletin for Marriage Enrichment opportunities!
If you are over 18 and a baptized Catholic who has not yet received the sacrament of Confirmation, please consider if this might be the year to complete your Christian initiation! Preparation sessions will begin in mid-March, with the sacrament celebrated on June 7 with Bishop Burbidge. Registration and an initial interview are required.
Not Catholic and interested in exploring Catholicism for yourself? Please consider the RCIA:
"RCIA is the Church’s way of forming new disciples of Jesus Christ. It’s the normative way the Catholic Church welcomes its newest members, but even more important than membership in the Catholic Church is discipleship in Christ Jesus.
Some people who participate in the RCIA are already disciples of Jesus Christ by virtue of their Baptism in a Protestant denomination. Although the RCIA is designed primarily for the unbaptized, it can also be adapted for use with those who are already baptized, including adults and children over seven years of age.
Participating in the RCIA is much more than going to classes on Catholicism. It’s undergoing a conversion to a new way of life in Christ.” (from Catholic Update: A New Look at the RCIA: Journey for the Entire Parish)
For more information about following Jesus as a Catholic Christian, please see our RCIA page or contact Cathy Rusin.
