Matthew 25:35 For when I was hungry you gave me to eat....
The Brown Bag Ministry prepares and distributes 2,250 brown bag lunches to the homeless and those in need every Saturday. Currently brown bag lunches are prepared at St. Mary Magdalene's cafeteria until the Fellowship Hall renovations are completed. We begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Once all the bags are prepared, we load up our truck and head down to Moore Square in downtown Raleigh where we distribute a portion of the bags. The remaining bags are distributed to various locations within Apex, Durham, Raleigh, Wake Forest and Wendell.
Working with other churches in the area, we are also responsible for preparing a hot meal to feed roughly 200-225 homeless and those in need on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
This wouldn't be possible without the generosity of many companies, organizations and individuals. A special thanks to Father David and the St. Andrew's community for your support and generosity.
Donations of food come from Jersey Mike's, Whole Foods, Food Lion, and several others.
Volunteers from many churches, Scout Troops, Knights of Columbus, St. Michaels, St. Mary Magdalene, Y-Guide Tribes and others have helped package and distrbute our meals. For an expanded list of donors and volunteers, see our Brown Bag Ministry website.
There are many ways to help. The Brown Bag Ministry is in need of volunteers to help prepare the brown bag lunches to be distributed weekly. See the Brown Bag Ministry volunteer tab to find opportunities for your group to volunteer. We also accept cash, food and goods. If you would prefer to send a monetary donation, please make checks payable to Brown Bag Ministry and send them to Brown Bag Ministry, P.O. Box 512, Apex, NC 27502.
