SunflowerThe sunflower is one of many natural symbols we can use to explain some aspect of our spiritual journey. As a British gentleman explained, he grew sunflowers and loved them because of the way they turned to the sun, following it all day from its rising in the east to its setting in the west. If the day is cloudy, he claimed, and any glimpse of sun appears, the sunflower will find it and follow it.

Those who practice centering over a long period of time are actually following the Son (Christ), from our rising in the morning until our going to sleep at the end of the day. We try to listen to the voice within, to follow God’s will for us. When our days are cloudy, we still listen and watch. If there is a glimpse of God in the day, we will find it and follow it.
