The mission of Catholic Scripture Study is to bring people closer to Jesus Christ and His Church through in-depth Bible study. This program is for individuals seeking inspiring, in-depth Scripture study that is completely faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church (Tradition-Scripture-Magisterium). The study commentaries are written by leading Scripture scholars and authors, and each study contains references to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, papal encyclicals, and writings of the early Church Fathers and the saints.

Classes start in Sept and continue through the school year into spring. Each week the group meets via Zoom for a 1.5 hour session, which includes prayer, introduction, small group discussion of assigned questions (usually 4-6 each week) and then a 30-min video lecture by a Catholic priest or scripture scholar.

Catholic Scripture Study Fall 2023

  • Fall 2023 (Sep. 12 – Nov. 21):  Are you saved? We are often asked this by our protestant brothers and sisters. Do we know how to answer as faithful Catholics? Do we know what “salvation” truly is and what it is not? Join us this fall for the 10-week Lectio study with Dr. Michael Barber on “Salvation: New Life in Christ.” This study provides a biblical overview of salvation history, with a focus on what the New Testament teaches about salvation in Christ.
  • This study is available to Formed.org subscribers. (A free Formed.org subscription is available from the parish.) The videos can be accessed in digital format for free on the Formed.org site. The study guides ($24.95++ each) can be purchased at the Catholic Market website. A bulk order at the discounted rate of ~$12.50/guide (with tax/shipping) is being arranged for those who register by August 23rd and can pick up their study guides at St. Andrew’s. After this date, participants must purchase their own study guides.
  • The Fall 2023 study will be conducted online via Zoom for both the women’s and co-ed groups. If you would be interested in an in-person classroom session, assuming a facilitator can be found, please indicate so on the registration form below.
