Lent 2024: Almsgiving

Let’s explore Lent as a faith community this year!
Follow St. Andrew on Facebook for posts.

And, come back here to find ways to help us refocus and refresh our souls in preparation for Easter.

During Lent 2004, St. Andrew began an initiative to aid the children of Haiti. It began with prayers. As we learned more about the dire need in Haiti, our relationship grew. Learn more here or in the video below. More information also available in the Gathering Space.
Founded at St. Andrew, Brown Bag Ministry has prepared more than 1.3 million bag lunches and 58,000 hot meals to the homeless and hungry in the Triangle area.

For your Lenten almsgiving consideration, BBM is always in need of your donations. In particular, funds are needed to replace “Bubba” their 37 year old van which had over 567,000 miles on the odometer.  Donate here.
Each Lent, Catholic families across the country unite to put their faith into action through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Through CRS Rice Bowl, families learn about how our sisters and brothers across the globe overcome hardships like hunger and malnutrition, and how through Lenten alms, we have the power to make the world a better place for all. Learn more here.
St. Andrew is meeting the challenge to continue to find new ways of living our vision to Love God, Serve Neighbor, Nurture Disciples.

We Can, We Have, and We Will continue to be good stewards of the gifts God continues to give even during these difficult times. Learn more here.

Every parishioner benefits from the BAA. Visit our website to learn more. If you have not yet participated, donate online at GivetoBAA.org today. Commitment envelopes are available in the office as well.
 Thank you for your support.

We are stronger together!

Our parish generously supports Catholic Parish Outreach and Western Wake Crisis Ministry each year. In recent drives, our parish has raised thousands of pounds of food and donated thousands of dollars to each organization. Click on each image above to learn more about the organizations. There are even opportunities to volunteer with each!
Pictured is an easy and inexpensive Lenten activity for your children. Buy some beans (larger is better) and for each act of kindness or each sacrifice, put a bean in a jar. On Easter morning, replace the beans with jellybeans! God takes our offerings and transforms them into something more wonderful.
What Is Lent? For Kerry Weber of America Magazine, the answer is a journey in mercy. So…what does a bus have to do with it? (Guess you’ll have to watch and find out!) As we begin Lent, let us reflect together on what it means to journey in mercy. Where have we been touched by mercy in the past week? How can we live mercy for others in the week ahead?
